Charlie on his last day of school (top) looks the cool school kid much more than he did on on his first day last September (below). We’ve been so busy lately we haven’t had a chance to blog so we’re playing catch-up now (and cheating by post-dating this post). Charlie was also in his school’s big end of year show and you can watch a short clip here.

Charlie meets Prince Edward
Much excitement in these parts yesterday when Prince Edward came to town to officially open the new, improved Priory Park. During his walkabout he even had a short chat with Charlie, which went something along the lines of this:
Prince Edward (watching some bikers and skateboarders in the skate park): “Do you ride your bike like that?”
Charlie: “Well, I ride my bike but I definitely don’t ride it that dangerously!” Prince Edward laughs. We can’t quite spot Charlie anywhere in the video, but he’s there somewhere. As for the new park, it’s fantastic. A great new playground, lovely flowerbeds and walkways, but the highlight is the new cafe designed by the renowned French architect Dominique Perrault. So the man who designed the amazing Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris, among other grand projects, also did our local cafe. And Jonathan Glancey, The Guardian’s architecture critic and old friend from our Independent days, approves.
